No Longer Taking Applications: Part-Time Opportunities at Grow Space
Share
We are no longer taking applications for this position, we appreciate all the support and applications we have received
Grow Space Vertical Farms is expanding production — and we're looking for a few reliable people to join the team.
We're a small indoor vertical farm in Kenosha, Wisconsin. We grow fresh lettuce, leafy greens, herbs, and microgreens year-round using hydroponic and aeroponic systems, and we deliver same-day to local customers. If you've ever been curious about how indoor farming works, this is your chance to get hands-on with it.
We're adding part-time shifts on Wednesdays and Thursdays and are looking for people who want something low-key — a flexible side job, a complement to school, a way to stay active in retirement, or just a chill second gig. No farming experience needed. We'll train you on everything.
What's Available
We're hiring across five shifts. You can sign up for as few as one shift per week, and your tasks may rotate week to week depending on what the farm needs.
Wednesday — Harvest (2–6 hours, morning) Harvesting produce from our NFT channels and aeroponic towers. Packaging greens for customer orders.
Wednesday — General Cleaning (6–7 hours, flexible) Scrubbing aeroponic towers and pots, assembling tower gardens, and cleaning grow channels. This is the work that keeps our growing environment food-safe and running smoothly.
Wednesday — Channel Cleaning (~6 hours, flexible) Cleaning and sanitizing NFT grow channels between crop cycles. Preparing channels for replanting as we bring new systems online.
Thursday — Cleaning (5 hours, done by 3:30 PM) Facility cleaning and prep work. You're out by mid-afternoon.
Thursday — Planting (2 hours, after 4:00 PM) Transplanting seedlings into aeroponic towers and NFT channels. This is where new crops get started.
Wednesday is our biggest operations day, so we'll typically need two or more people in the building. Shifts may vary week to week — you won't necessarily do the same task every time you come in, which keeps things interesting.
Pay & Benefits
- $15.00 per hour, paid biweekly
- Take-home greens — employees are welcome to take home fresh produce after customer orders are fulfilled
- 14-day introductory period — no questions asked if you decide the role isn't for you
This is a W-2 part-time position.
What the Work Looks Like
This is hands-on physical work in a controlled indoor environment. You'll be on your feet for the duration of your shift, regularly carrying items up to 30 lbs (bins of harvested greens, grow channels, trays) with the ability to lift up to 50 lbs as needed. The work involves repetitive tasks like scrubbing, sorting, and planting, and you'll be working with water, food-safe cleaning solutions, and grow media.
It's real farm work — just indoors.
What We're Looking For
We don't need experience. We need the right attitude.
- Reliable and punctual — you show up when you say you will
- Coachable — you're willing to learn and take direction
- Detail-oriented — food safety and quality depend on doing things right
- Comfortable with physical work in a non-traditional environment
- A clear communicator — if something comes up, you tell us early
- Must be at least 16 years old
This role is a great fit for students, retirees, or anyone looking for a low-commitment, hands-on job that doesn't follow you home at the end of the day.
Schedule & Commitment
